Uganda Travel and Tourism News: Works and Transport ministry to license all passenger boats

The ministry of Works and Transport has asked the owners of passenger boats on lakes to acquire licenses.

While speaking to journalists in Kampala, Bernard Kabake an official in the water transport department in the ministry of works and transport said that there are many boats on lakes transporting people without licenses.

Kabake notes that the ministry wants all the passenger boats licensed to deter the substandard boats from transporting people.

He says that of recent many people have drowned in Lake Victoria and Kyoga because of moving in substandard boats.

Meanwhile, Kabake has warned the boat operators against transporting people and fish at the same time.
