Uganda Taxi Operators Drivers Association (UTODA) has today asked the government to tighten security in the taxi parks saying that a group of people wants to create insecurity into the parks.

The UTODA’s need for protection follows the today’s fracas between its officials and the drivers after the latter refused to pay the monthly sticker fees.

The drivers under the Drivers and Conductors Central Association blocked the UTODA officials from entering the park saying that UTODA’s contract of collecting the money ended last month, which caused commotion that was contained after the police fired teargas and live bullets in the air to disperse the rioters.

The UTODA Vice Chairperson, Chris Ssengooba says that the situation is ought to be worse anytime if the government does not strengthen security in the parks.
