Ultimate Media

The situation in Kampala turned chaotic for some hours today when the drivers and UTODA officials engaged in a physical fight in the Kampala’s New Taxi Park.

The chaos erupted when some taxi drivers in the umbrella body, Drivers and Conductors Central Association (DACCA) declined to pay the monthly sticker fees amidst UTODA’s force to have the fees paid.

At the time the police were called to intervene the situation had gone out of hand as some people had lost their teeth and blood oozing.

The drivers claim that UTODA’s contract to collect revenue from the taxis ended last month while UTODA insist their contract is still on up to 2014.

On 1st this month, the drivers who operate at the Clock Towers stage also fought with UTODA officials over the same reason until the police dispersed the rioters with teargas.
