Uganda Travel and Tourism News: KCCA asks court to quickly handle its case with UTODA

The Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) leadership has asked the court to fast track the case between Uganda Taxi Operators and Drivers Association (UTODA) and KCCA if the chaos in the city is to end.

Yesterday, rival sections of the drivers clashed at the Old Taxi Park, forcing the police to fire teargas and live bullets to disperse the rioters.

UTODA continues to run the taxi industry after court stopped Kampala Capital City Authority from ending their contract until the judgment is given.

KCCA Executive Director, Jennifer Musisi says the authority’s hands are tied in clearing up the transport industry.

Musisi says KCCA will respect the decision taken by court to give way to UTODA to continue managing taxis in the city.

Meanwhile, Musisi maintains that UTODA's contract expired on 31st October this year.
