Uganda Travel and Tourism News: Kagadi-Kyenjojo road to get temporary bridge

The Ministry of Works and Transport has announced plans to build a temporary bridge on the Kagadi-Kyenjojo road after River Muzizi swept away the old bridge.

The road has been closed for days after the river washed away the bridge leaving the traffic flow to either district miserable.

Speaking to the media at Parliament today, State Minister of Works, Eng. John Byabagambi said a team of engineers has been sent to the area to assess the extent of the damage and what is require tentatively.

Eng. Byabagambi says a temporary bridge will be built in the meantime to allow vehicles to move while a plan for a permanent bridge is being designed.

He says that the ministry will also move to other districts like Bulambuli and Bududa where bridges have been washed away by the heavy rains and have them repaired as soon as possible. 

Buses on Kagadi-Kabale route have resorted to hiking the transport fares from due to the long distance they have to travel.
