The Former Principle Judge, Justice George Kanyeihamba wants President Yoweri Museveni to intervene in the extension of his mandate to chair the probe comission into Uganda Wildlife Authority special projects.
This followed reports that the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Prof. Ephraim Kamuntu has asked the commission to close shop, saying it had overstayed its mandate.
The inquiry was instituted to investigate the loss of over 70 billion shillings meant for the Protected Areas Management of Sustainable Use (PAMSU) project.
Justice Kanyeihamba says government funds were injected into the inquiry and it should be allowed to complete its work for the good of the sector.
Parts of the recommendations of the commission include the immediate interdiction of the Acting Uganda Wildlife Authority Executive Director Andrew Seguya who is accused of reported mismanagement of funds.
The commission also says there are 4 members of staff that were wrongfully fired on the request of the Managing Director who should be reinstated.
Kanyeihamba says they will continue with investigations unless the Attorney General advises otherwise.
