Uganda’s football governing body, the Federation of Uganda’s Football Associations (FUFA) has slapped a heavy ban on top Uganda Super League officials for indiscipline.
FUFA has banned the Super League chairman Kavuma Kabenge from engaging in national soccer activities for 11 years, while Chief Executive Officer Jimmy Ssegawa has been banned for one year.
The two officials are accused of failure to follow the Uganda Super League Ltd Memorandum and Articles of Association with FUFA who granted them powers to run the Uganda Super League.
FUFA is accusing the two of failing to comply and implement FUFA rules inclusive of statutes, regulations, decisions and directives of FUFA, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA.
The secretary of FUFA’s disciplinary committee Asuman Nyonyintono told a news conference on Monday that the Super League has been suspended until the sticking issues have been resolved.
Kabenge and Ssegawa have for long refused to appear before the committee earlier claiming that FUFA had summoned them as individuals and not the entity which is supposed to answer to the charges.
Kabenge wanted FUFA to instead summon USL as the company which would then direct one of the members to appear.
FUFA wants USL to explain why they have refused to replay some of the games they agreed were null and void for using non-qualified referees to officiate the games at the beginning of the season.
But when contacted, Kabenge laughed off the ban as a mere joke saying FUFA has no such powers.
