The female Member of Parliament for Youths, Monica Amoding has appealed to the government to be more vigilant on companies that take Ugandans outside to work, saying some of the companies are trafficking young people into prostitution in foreign countries.
Amoding says because of high unemployment levels among the youths, young people are the biggest culprits of the growing human trafficking of Ugandans.
She says many youths have been taken abroad with promises of big jobs only to end not being paid or paid too little and forced into acts like prostitution.
The MP decries the increasing cases of Ugandans involved in what she termed as sexual slavery in countries like Malaysia, Iraq, Egypt and United Arab Emirates among others.
She says the government must name and publicise all companies engaged in labour export so that they are known and monitored by the public to ensure they don’t take advantage of the people they take out of Uganda.
