Ultimate Media
The government has finally promised to carry out investigations into the shooting at Daily Monitor journalist Isaac Kasamani while he covered a rally organized by pressure group Activists for Change last week.
The State Minister for Internal Affairs, James Baba says the police had not started investigations because they did not receive a formal complaint from Kasamani.
Baba said the police had made several contacts with the journalist to gove his first hand account of the events but the journalist had not been forthcoming.
But Kasamani denied receiving requests from the police to record a statement on the incident.
The police chief, Lt. Gen. Kale Kayihura, said they would use an independent international investigator to conduct the inquiry to establish the circumstances and why the journalists was shot.
