A subcommittee of Cabinet appointed by President Yoweri Museveni to study the Public Accounts Committee report that pinned two ministers in illegal payment of compensation claims is set to meet the Governor, Bank of Uganda, Prof. Emmanuel Mutebile.

Prof. Mutebile is implicated in the PAC role for the payment of 142 billion shillings to city businessman, Hassan Basajjabalaba as compensation to HABA Group of Companies after government cancelled his contract to manage city markets, Nakasero and Owino, as well as the constitutional square.

Last week, two ministers, Prof. Khiddu Makubuya and Syda Bbumba resigned over their role in the payment of the compensation monies, while the report also called for the resignation of Prof. Mutebile as well.

Addressing the media at parliament today, the caucus vice chairman, David Bahati revealed that the committee, chaired by Defense minister, Dr. Crispus Kiyonga wants to hear out Prof. Mutebile before making conclusions on the report findings.

Other committee members are Third Deputy Prime Minister, Gen. Moses Ali, Ruhakana Rugunda, Muruli Mukasa, Adolf Mwesige and David Bahati.
