Uganda People News: Mass graduation party in Bukwo district

Leaders from Bukwo district in sebei region are organizing a mass graduation party for all students who have finished studies at different levels of higher education.

The woman mp for Bukwo district Tete Chelagant told a press conference at parliament that the mass graduation party will be held at Bukwo primary school on 4^th February 2012.

Chelagant says that the party will act as a motivation for young girls in this area to go school and encourage them to abandon the practice of female genital mutilation.

Bukwo and neighbiouring Kapchorwa district are known for their practice of female genital mutilation or female circumcision.

The practice undertaken as a rite of passage to adulthood has persisted despite many years of campaigns against it.
