A suspected top police impersonator has been netted in Wandegeya police station, just meters away from the city centre.

Abby Muwonge was pausing as Assistant Superintendent of Police attached to the Police Professional Unit (PSU) and had gone to Wandegeya police to claim another suspected top robber who was arrested recently.

Police alleges that Muwonge was posing as PSU officer and that the robber suspect at Wandegeya was among the top criminals PSU was investigating hence he should be transferred there.

The Deputy police Spokesman in-charge of Kampala Metropolitan, Idi Ibin Senkumbi says Muwonge fooled the police and had already secured the release of the robbery suspect.

He adds that Muwonge has released several robber suspects by fooling the police that the suspect be taken to PSU.

Senkumbi cautions the general public to endeavor to ask for identity cards from police officers to avoid being conned by police impersonators.
