Uganda People News: Councilors order Lukwago to call council meeting or face censure

The administrative and political rows at Kampala Capital City Authority are not about to end.
A group of 15 councilors in KCCA led by Councilor Bernard Luyiga are petitioning Kampala Lord Mayor Elias Lukwago to call for a special council meeting within 14 days to discuss pertinent issues for their electorates.
The same group of councilors is has on some occasions stormed out of council meeting called by the mayor accusing Lukwago of wrongly ruling them out of order when they speak.
Luyiga, the Councilor for Makerere University says they want the special meeting to discuss, market fires, floods, taxi fees and management, pioneer bus issue among others.
The group is threatening that if the mayor fails to call for the meeting they will be forced to censure him.
But Mbabazi Deo the Mayor’s personal assistant insists the councilors are personally to blame for the failure to hold regular council meetings as they keep storm out of coumcil meetings.
He says councilors should learn to be orderly and respect each other while transacting council meetings.
