Uganda People News: Blood Bank issues number for those in need of blood

The Uganda Blood bank Nakasero has set up a toll free line that can be directly used by patients in need of blood to get help.

Michael Mukundane the senior blood donor recruiter at Nakasero blood bank says patients can now get quick help by dialling toll free number 0800122422 in cases where hospitals have run out of blood.

He says this will also help check the various emerging reports that health personnel in some places force patients to pay for blood which is meant to be given free.

Mukundane also reveals that modalities are being worked upon to ensure that calls going in to the toll free number are diverted to lines of different health workers in the Blood bank for efficiency.

This will especially work for those calling during weekends and non working hours to ensure they receive the urgent help they need.
