Uganda Heritage News: Rwenzururu Kingdom wants Isaya Mukirania declare hero

The Rwenzururu Kingdom wants its fallen first Omusinga (King), Isaya Mukirania Mbalibulha to be declared a national hero.

 Omusinga (King) Wisely Mumbere Irema-Ngoma II says that like the former King of Bunyoro, Omukama Kabalega, Mukirane (Mumbere’s father) fought against the influence of the colonialists in the country.

 His Majesty Iremangoma explains that by fighting the leadership of the Toro kingdom in the 1950s the then collaborators of the colonialists, Mukirania detested the rule of the colonialists.

 He says that his father Mukirania and late Kabalega of Bunyoro should be recognized as special figures by the government of Uganda and Africa at large because they fought for independence from the colonial rule.

 The king says whereas the Baganda and Batooro allied with the colonialists, the Bakonzo-Bamba of the Rwenzururu kingdom and Banyoro were against colonialism.
