The government has been urged to invest more in environmental institutions if sustainable development is to be realized.

Uganda still lags behind in Environment sustainability one of the Millennium Development Goals all UN member states are mandated to achieve by 2015.

The country continues to experience increased degradation of the environment, like deforestation, and fish depletion among others.

Speaking at the Sustainable development Forum the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) Director for Policy Planning and Information, Eugene Muramira said that unless the government increases funding to environment institutions at all levels and strengthens enforcement among other things, this goal may not be achieved.
