Parents have been urged to remind their children about crucial cultural practices that enhance the well being of the individual, home and the community.
The call was made by Adrian Mukiibi, the Coordinator of Ekisakate, a training programme run by the office of the Nabagereka of Buganda.
He says children need to be aware of cultural practices and roles that are positive in their lives and the lives of others.
Mukiibi says the Ekisakate is trying to inculcate cultural values and skills in young children so they can be better members of the society.
He was speaking today at the end of the Ekisakaate training that took place at St. Mary’s Kitende.
This year’s training was held under the theme “the role of culture in development”. Mukiibi expressed hope that the trainees will exemplify what they have learned for the good of their homes and communities.
He said learners have been given a number of skills centering on household roles, public behavior, discipline and self protection among others.
