Uganda Health News: Two medical officers arrested over embezzlement

Two senior medical officers attached to the Ministry of Health have been arrested today over embezzlement.

The officers identified as Geoffrey Omongo, the former Medical superintendent at Gulu Hospital and Dr. Agel Yovantino face charges of embezzlement of about 2 billion shillings

The police spokesperson for Kampala metropolitan area, Iddi Ibin Senkumbi says the duo together with Aliyi Walimbwa a senior planner at Ministry of Health currently at large reportedly misappropriated funds meant for Gulu hospital in a period of two years.

Senkumbi says two officers will be produced in court to answer charges of abuse of office.
