Uganda Health News: Mulago gets trauma and emergency unit

Mulago Hospital has announced plans to set up the country’s first ever trauma and emergency unit.
The Israeli government is supporting Uganda to set up the centre that is expected to begin operations in February 2012.
Mulago Hospital Executive Director Dr. Byarugaba Baterana says the lack of such a unit has left the needs of many patients unattended to.
Speaking to Journalists today, Dr. Baterana said the center will greatly improve health service delivery at the national referral hospital.
During the same press briefing, the Israeli Ambassador to Uganda Gil Haskel said the equipment needed for the unit’s surgical section is already in Mombasa.
He says his government will continue supporting Mulago Hospital to improve its capacity to offer quality health services.
