Uganda Health News: Mulago gets Cath lab heart equipment

The Mulago hospital based Uganda Heart Institute is in its final stages of installing a 1.5 million dollar machine, which is to be used in treating all complicated cardiac diseases.

The first ever state of the Heart machine with in East Africa has been identified as the Cath lab heart equipment.

The Chairman of the Uganda Heart Institute, Robert Sebunya says President Museveni provided the funding for purchase of the machine.

Sebunya says that once the equipment is fully installed, most of the complicated heart conditions will be handled with in the country.

He says the machine is used in treating congenital heart defects, treatment of heart valves, and pacemaker implantations among others.
