Former Vice President Dr. Bukenya Gilbert has expressed concern over insufficient drug supplies and medical staff at the Mulago national referral hospital.

He says insuffient staff and medical supplies has made the hospital fail to adequately offer reliable health services.

Prof. Bukenya who is the MP for Busiro North proposes that the daily management of the hospital should be reserved for non medical staff in order to release trained medical personnel to attend to their core duties of diagnosing and treating patients.

He was speaking yesterday in Kampala as the government sought to secure a loan to boost Mulago hospital.

Bukenya says Mulago hospital needs more funding to afford better facilities, recruit more medical workers and provide them with accommodation and other relevant welfare.
