Uganda Government News: Nambooze asks government to be clear on lower council elections

Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze has insisted that she will take the government to Court for failing to conduct Local Council One and Two Elections despite the Ministry’s pronouncement that it will held in December of this year without setting the real date.
Nambooze says ministry of Local Government recently announced that they will conduct the lower council Elections but said her Lawyers has already filed the petition to force govenrment to conduct the electuons.
She says the government has never formally informed them on the progress and therefore it will not stop them from proceeding with the case.
The fiery MOPthe acting Permanent Secretary Local government made the statement verbally and such a statement cannot be relied on.
During a Press Conference held at Parliament Nambooze who is the Shadow Minister for Local Government said matters concerning Elections are not secret and should be made public.
She says there is no reason why the exact date to conduct the lower council Elections cannot be made public.
