The Woman MP for Kampala district, Nabilah Nagayi Sempala has criticized the police for forcefully blocking a rally she had organized in Katwe, a Kampala suburb.

Nabila who was briefly detained by police today morning says she had informed the Inspector General of Police about her planned rally and it was the duty and responsibility of the police to provide security and not to approve the rally.

The MP says she was surprised to wake up this morning to find police heavily deployed around her home instead of the police providing protection at the rally.

Nabilah who managed to escape from the house made it to Katwe only to find another contingent of heavily armed policemen who stopped her from accessing the venue of Katwe grounds where the rally was to take place.

The MP now says the police is acting as the giver and taker of rights of Ugandans and has left the opposition leaders with no option to consult their electorate of voice their concerns.
