The Public Accounts of Parliament is set to produce reports on its investigations into the use of public finances by different bodes of government.
Members of Parliament on the committee are set to start a seven day retreat at imperial resort hotel Entebbe to prepare their report regarding the investigations into the compensations that were illegally made by government to private companies and individuals.
The committee has been investigating different matters raised by the auditor General’s report, especially the controversial compensation of businessman Hassan basajjabalaba with 169 billion shillings when he lost his city markets contract.
According to some mps on this committee, the two ministers who were implicated in these compensations including Syda Bumba and Khiddu Makubuya will be liable for their actions.
One of the members of the committee Kyamadidi mujuni Vincent has asked president Museveni not to interfere with the committee’s recommendations especially when the two ministers are implicated.
This follows president recent appeal to NRM mps during the NRM retreat in kyakwanzi, to halt the censure motion against Syda Bumba and Khiddu Makubuya until the public accounts committee completes its report.
Bbumba, former finance minister and Makubuya, former Attorney General are accused of authorizing payment of 169billion shillings to Basajjabalaba, a highly inflated figure.
