Buganda Road Court has acquitted the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and Aruu County MP Odonga Otto of charges arising from a foiled rally they planned to hold in 2007.
The 2were charged with failure to comply with a traffic directive, conspiracy to commit a felony and assault.
The two were arrested as they attempted to hold a rally at the Constitutional Square to protest against the infamous Kiboko Suqad.
MP Odonga Otto was also alleged to have assaulted police office Emmanuel Muhairwe.
Buganda Road Court chief magistrate Sylivia Nabaggala has ruled that there wasn’t enough evidence presented to prove the charges.
The court ruled that there wasn’t any medical evidence presented to prove that the police officer was assaulted in any way.
The magistrate also added that the 2 were only sitting in the car and that it was its driver who should have been charged with failure to comply with traffic regulations.
Speaking after the ruling, Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago said he will sue the state for malicious prosecution.
