Road works on the Jinja-Kamuli road has commenced, months after the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga threatened to mobilize her constituents to demonstrate over the same.

Kadaga last year made her threats known after legislators from other regions also tabled complaints over the slow pace at which government was taking to repair major roads.

A few weeks ago, Dott Services Ltd, a road construction company, started working on the road from Kamuli town towards Jinja district.

Kadaga says her efforts have paid off and now works have kicked off, which will be a huge relief to the locals, who have for over a year, raised alarms over the poor state of roads, which have affected the transportation of produce to the markets, as well as affected their health.
