The Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament Rebecca Kadaga has called upon the responsible government departments as well as private sector players to tap the tourism potential of the delegates coming for the International Parliamentary Union meeting in Uganda.

Kadaga is leading the organising committee for the 126th meeting of the IPU, which brings together member states of the UN. The meeting will take place from 31st March to 4thApril 2012 in Kampala.

Speaking to media editors today, the Kadaga said the conference will bring to Uganda over 1500 delegates, and the country should tap the tourism opportunity these many visitors bring.

Kadaga says since the meeting will take place during the Easter period, the organizing committee will focus its attention after the conference to take delegates to different tourism sites, particularly the national parks and water falls.

The organisers say they are liaising with Kampala Capital City Authority to work on the roads, as well as keep the city clean.
