The Youth Fund continues to generate controversy with the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development Maria Kiwanuka failing to please MPs on how government is disbursing the money from the fund.

MPs today threw out the Finance Minister after they rejected her statement on the disbursement of the 25 billion shillings youth funds.

Minister Kiwanuka had been directed by the Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga to explain the criteria used to disburse the funds, after youth representatives expressed discontent over the same.

Kiwanuka presented her statement on the criteria however legislators noted that some of the requirements mentioned in her speech were different from the ones of the banks, prompting the MPs to ask her to go back and harmonize her position with that of the banks doing the actual delivery of the loans.

MPs noted that the age limit and the interest rate of the loans that the minister presented were different from those that partnering banks were operating on.

Kiwanuka tried in vain to defend her statement but MPs insisted she needed to go back to her office and prepare a more detailed statement.
