The Electoral Commission has recruited 204 to regulate the Jinja municipality East by-election set for tomorrow.

The district returning officer Flavia Mujurizi says the team includes 51 presiding officers, 102 polling assistants and 51 police constables.

Mujurizi says the recruited officers will be spread across the 51 polling stations gazetted for voting in the constituency.

Over 100 million shillings is to be spent on this by-election which resulted from a petition filed by Paul Mwiru the FDC flag bearer, who successfully challenged the election of the NRM’s Nathan Igeme Nabeta.

Five candidates are contesting in this race whose campaigns have been running since Jan 16th.

The Electoral Commission says the campaign exercise has been peaceful with no major complaints registered.
