The East African Legislative Assembly budget committee sitting in Uganda is considering granting more funding for the running of EAC activities.
This follows a request by East African Community council of ministers for a 30 billion shillings supplementary budget.
The funds are expected to be utilized for shortfalls in the 170 million dollar EAC budget before the financial year ends in June 2012.
The chairperson of the EALA Budget committee, Lydia Wanyoto says they have a work plan of activities and have to ensure they deliver on the variables they had approved at the start of the budget year.
Wanyoto says at the end of the financial year, they expect an audit of all expenditure incurred and those not implemented.
The committee however didn’t decide whether to approve the supplementary bill.
