Uganda Education News: Teachers need more training on new curriculum

The government has been asked to give teachers some time at the beginning of the first term to familiarise themselves with the new curriculum.
John Bosco Mujimbi, the Head of Private Schools Association says although the new curriculum has taken effect, many teachers are not familiar with the changes.
He says although they organised a training for teachers on the new curriculum, many teachers were not able to attend since they were in their respective upcountry homes during the holidays.
Mijumbi says teachers need some more time when the term has resumed to be trained on the changes in the curriculum so that they are able to adjust their lessons accordingly.
He says this is especially urgent, given the fact that the ministry of Education has set 2014 as the year when students will be examined based on the new curriculum.
