Uganda Education News: Schools advised to fence off their land

The minister for education and sports Jessica Alupo has asked all schools to use available means to ensure that all their school land is fenced.

 Alupo is concerned about an increasing trend of some individuals claiming and grabbing land believing to schools.

She says fencing off the land is one of the strategies to ensure that their land is not grabbed by some individuals, especially where getting a land title is not easy.

Alupo told journalists in Kampala that she has directed the ministry for lands to avail the ministry of education with photo copies of land titles for all education institutions and schools in the country for perusal.

Alupo says many people have now started looking at school land which they grab for their own gain.

This comes at a time when there is a controversy over the recent loss of a school land in the city center to one of the investors but Alupo has since ordered for investigations into the matter.
