Uganda Education News: Hike in senior one cut off points expected
Ultimate Media
As schools prepare to start the senior one selection exercise next week, the cut off points for most grade one schools are expected to be increased.
According to ministry of education officials, this is due to the improved performance of more students getting second and first grades in last year’s Primary Leaving Examination.
Dr. Yusuf Nsubuga, the Commissioner for Higher Education in the Ministry of Education and Sports says some of the top schools are expected to increase their cut off points if they have more applicants to their schools performing well.
He however says some schools might reduce their cut off points depending on the performance of applicants to the respective schools.
Dr. Nsubuga says the ministry will just be witnessing and guiding the schools selection exercise that kicks off on February 4th.
After the senior one selection where schools chose the students they will admit, the new senior one students are expected to start their first term studying on February 13th 2012.
