The Chancellor of Makerere University Prof. Mondo Kagonyera ihas called upon the government to increase financial support for research and innovation at high institutions of learning.

Prof. Kagonyera says research is crucial for innovations that are an essential component of any nation’s long term growth strategy.

Kagonyera adds that, financial support towards economically viable researched projects will greatly ease the current strife faced by graduates in the search for employment by enabling them learn more practical projects while still at school.

Prof. Kagonyera was today presiding over the university’s 62nd graduation ceremony where over 11,000 graduands are being conferred this week.

Some of those that graduated today in different Academic disciplines include students of Bachelors of Science in agricultural engineering, mechanical engineering and industrial arts among others.
