Uganda Education News: Government asked to improve welfare of university staff

The government has been asked to provide more incentives for lecturers in public universities to reduce on the current staff turnover in these institutions.
Prof. Fredrick Kayanya, the Vice Chancellor of Mbarara University of Science and Technology says that the increasing trend of lecturers leaving for greener pastures or giving up on teaching is worrying.
He says the government needs to move fast and ensure the retaining of good lecturers and other staff of universities in order to continue providing quality educations.
Prof. Kayanja made the remarks during the university’s 18th graduation ceremony where 717 students graduated with different degree and diploma certificates.
He expressed concern that Mbarara University has become a training ground for other universities with the university’s staff who have been trained and improved on taken over by other education institutions.
