Traders in Kampala under the Kampala city traders association have welcomed with mixed reactions provisions in the budget that was read out last week.

The traders say the step taken by government to allocate more funds to the Agricultural sector in the field of irrigation is one in the right direction.

Association chairman, Everest Kayondo says they have always been affected especially during the dry seasons because the option of irrigation had been ignored.

Kayondo says in their proposals, the issue of irrigation and unemployment was put across and now happy that these were responded to.

He was however quick to add that failure by government to reduce the fuel prices are likely to raise the cost of living.

He also advises government to fully implement what was in the budget and avoid diversions.

The Government recently announced a 44 billion shilling package in the field of job creation and excise duty reduction on kerosene and agricultural implements such as hoes.
