The Lord Mayor of Kampala City Erias Lukwago has said he is not opposed to buses operating in Kampala but wants to ensure the operations of buses are well prepared for and regularised by KCCA.

Lukwago who appeared before MPs today defended his proposal to have the contract awarded to pioneer easy bus reviewed.

He expressed strong opposition to buses beginning operations on March 1st  saying there are several irregularities that need to be ironed out.

Lukwago who was flanked by his Deputy Suleiman Kidandala says the lanes reserved for the buses need to be indentified and reserved while the public needs to be sensitised on how the new arrangement will affect other road users.

The Mayor says he will continue to call for the stay of operations until there are adequate preparations to ensure smooth operations of the buses.
