Uganda Business News: Government agencies ease delays in clearing agriculture exports

The Uganda revenue Authority together with other agencies have started a one stop center for export inspection to cut on the inconveniences experienced by the exporters at the Airport.
The assistant commissioner trade at the Uganda Revenue Authority Stephen Mugera says that working with the civil Aviation Authority, Uganda Bureau of Standards, the Ministry of Agriculture and security agencies they have agreed on a framework to examine the exports at the same time to avoid delays and other inconveniences to exporters.
Speaking at the exporter’s consultative forum Mugera says that with this export inspection, the bureau of standard will have to approve the quality of product while the customs, security operations being conducted simultaneously.
In the past the exports have been unpacked several times by different agencies to execute their duties which caused delays, damage of the products among other inconveniences to the exporters.
Mugera reported after overcoming the human resource challenges the center will save the Uganda’s reputation on the World Market by ensuring only products of a certain standards are exported.
