Full Name: Patrick Katende
Date of Birth: 12th December 1982
Location: Kamwokya, Kampala
I am a Munyoro from Hoima District in western Uganda. I come from a family of pure Banyoro, born and bred in Hoima District. I was born in Hoima District in a town area called Kiryatete West. Am the first born in a family of five kids, three boys and two girls. My parents are Mr. Katende Patrick and Mrs. Katende Annette all pure Banyoro. Tracing my ancestral lineage is one thing I have struggled to do all my life but I have never gotten anywhere really but I come from a very understanding background, humble but tough when there is reason to.
Other Personal Background:
I am a first born to a young couple that brought me to life when they were in school. However, its hard to tell in which classes they were but what is sure is that it was in their secondary school. I grew up a humble boy, very nice looking and I remember my mother always told me that many people wanted to hold me and appreciate.
My childhood was very interesting and many schools of thought have been forwarded about me. My mum always told me that I was the kind that liked fighting but to date she has never told me whether I used to win or if I was ever beaten. I was a little bit stubborn but was tamed to fit in todays society. Throughout my life I have received love from my parents. I am a person with a simple character, humble, loving, honest and very welcoming. However I am a person of principle and always guided by them to have a proper life and move in the direction so predestined by the almighty father whom I serve with all honesty. I love making and meeting new friends. In my free time, especially on weekends, I get down to a drink with my friends where we discuss issues of the week and how we should go about the forth coming week. We then move to a bar, often its Steak Out, where we shake our bones a little until we retire in the wee hours of the night.
For starters, am a natural born writer and I love the field because it has kept me moving up to date. Im currently managing a fast growing auto advertising magazine called Car Trader. This magazine advertises cars for sale and any other auto related field.
Education/Career Background and History:
I have tried to trace my nursery education but never sure what it actually was because every other time, I used to have a teacher coming home to take me through questions that I would be given in case of an interview. I went to Saint Francisco Primary School, an Italian founded school in Hoima district. After my primary level, there was fear that secondary school entry exams would be repeated and so I rushed to Saint John Bosco Seminary in Hoima District. From here, I switched to Vienna College International Namugongo and later Makerere University where I did a degree in Development Studies and successfully completed with an honors degree in 2005. While I did my degree, I was so much involved in journalism, a field that raised my love for entertainment. I chose to work for tabloid papers to uplift that virtue in me. I wrote for the Red Pepper where I gained a lot of experience, I later switched to The Mirror as an editor. I worked closely with entertainment related people, a thing that brought me to Pam Awards where I was one of the journalists listed to cover the event from the initial stages to the end. More still, I got so much in contact with a couple of people in this field who could never stop appreciating the articles I was writing. I love entertainment and I pray that am among the people who will make a big difference in the lives of struggling artists and all those who would wish to grow in this field in Uganda.
Where do I see myself in five years?
I love hard work but with a good pay. Sometimes people think its not good to be so ambitious but I am an ambitious person who always wants to face challenges. I want to see myself very well established, self sustaining and a person recognized internationally. I believe that when you do good work, it should be recognized. I also want to see myself becoming an international solution who can be reached by all sectors of people for advice.
Areas of Interest:
I love watching soccer, reading interesting articles, argument where it is due.
I am very accommodative and always willing to learn new things in life. I love people who respect me and always want to see me change for the better. I hate lies and would fall off with anybody who lies to me. I like a person who opens up to me and is real with me. I can handle anything- so nobody lies to me. Finally, I would fall apart with anybody who pissed off my parents because they created me at the most difficult time of their life. They never thought of ending my life but went ahead and loved me so much.
Never be afraid to try something new...
Remember amateurs built the ark, professionals built the titanic.
