Grades A to E are passes at principal level and O is a subsidiary pass for subjects taken at principal level. Numeric grades 1 to 6 are passes for subjects taken at subsidiary level.
The following are the subjects which constitute sciences: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture and Biology. For purpose of ranking candidates, Technical subjects (Technical Drawing, Woodwork and Metalwork) and Foods and Nutrition are also considered. Science candidates who offer other subjects outside these (e.g. Economics, Geography, French, German, Fine Art) do not earn any points for ranking purposes irrespective of the grades they get in these subjects. Pos means position.
