The number of people suffering from migraine headaches is on increase in Uganda.

Migraine is a severe and repeated headache with pain on only one side of the head or face and typically with disorder of the eyesight.

Dr. Paul Muyanga of SAS Clinic in Kampala says migraine headache is a result of too much stress and working for long hours.

The Doctor says most migraine headaches go untreated and undiagnosed and can last from 4 – 72 hours. But this may persist for weeks in severe cases.

He says migraine headaches can also be hormonal, hereditary or triggered off by foods like cheeses, smoked fish, sausages, mushrooms, citrus drinks, alcohol, or contraceptives.

The Doctor says the most effective remedy of migraine headache is reducing the hours of work and trying to control stress.
