Uganda Health News: Pregnant mothers in Uganda for compulsory HIV/Aids testing

Government has committed its self to fight the spread of HIV amongst children through by cutting down mother to child infection. The Prime Minister of Uganda, Prof. Apollo Nsibambi says the government is going to make it compulsory to test pregnant mothers. Nsibambi says mother to child HIV infections has become a threat since the prevalence rate of HIV/AIDS amongst children has increased in the recent years. The Professor’s remarks were contained in a speech read for him today by the Third Deputy Prime Minister, Ali Kirunda Kivejinja at the official opening of the third national pediatric HIV /AIDS conference in Kampala. Kivejinja says government will also increase provision of anti retroviral drugs to children since they constitute 56% of the country's population.
