The Uganda Parliamentary Forum for Children has focused its priority on reducing child mortality on the African Child Day which has been celebrated today under the theme accelerated survival and development; creating a safe environment for children.

The Chairperson of the forum, Rebecca Nalwanga says the forum will implement programmes in infant and child feeding, immunization, prevention of mother- to- child transmission of HIV, prevention of malaria.

Nalwanga says the forum will also urge the government to protect all children in Uganda against all forms of violence and exploitation and to build for them a protective environment.

She says it is such measures that will help reduce the current high childhood mortality rates by at least 63%.

Nalwanga says the forum will also push for the registration of all children at their birth and their death as a means of helping plan for the children much more easily than it is today.
