Uganda Health News: More men test for HIV than women

A new report released today by Uganda Health Support Agency indicates that men have tested for HIV/AIDS more than women. The survey was carried out in Kampala during the last week of November 2008, as part of commemorations to mark the World AIDS day. The report shows that 4,352 people tested for HIV/Aids in Kampala of which 253 were found positive with the HIV prevalence more in the age bracket of 20-30 years more especially in women. The research was conducted in Kisaasi, Kibuye, Wandegeya, Kisenyi and Nakivubo, Kampala suburbs. The Coordinator of Uganda Health Support Agency programme, Emmanuel Ziraba told journalists in Kampala that they intend to create more awareness campaign and HIV/Aids testing.
