The government of Uganda has been accused of having played a role in the hijacking of a motion by some opposition Members of Parliament to demand for the reopening of radio CBS FM.
Radio CBS FM and three others were closed last month allegedly for inciting violence in the central region.
The licenses of the radio stations were suspended during a three day violent riots which were sparked off after the government blocked the Katikkiro of Buganda, Eng. JB Walusimbi from visiting Kayunga district on September 11th.
About 27 people were shot dead allegedly by Uganda police and Military.
The opposition Members of Parliament by Michael Mabikke (Makindye East) and Dr. Lulume Bayiga (Buikwe East) accuse the central government of trying to stop the motion from being debated in the house session.
The MPs add that the closure of radio CBS was illegal and against the media laws.
MP Michael Mabikke says that they will still continue to push for their motion which they say is for the benefit and interest of the media fraternity in the country.
