Uganda Government News: EAC standby force to start work in December

The Eastern African Standby Brigade training military exercises will take place from November 25th to December 7th, 2009. The exercise was earlier scheduled for November 16 to 29th in Djibouti.
The EAC Standby Brigade comprising of soldiers from Rwanda, Djibouti, Comoros, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles, Somalia, Burundi, Sudan and Uganda.
The Spokesperson of Rwanda Defence Forces, Maj. Jill Rutaremara says the training was postponed due to an avoidable issues and programmes among member states.
He says Rwanda Defence Forces are ready for the joint training.
Rutaremara says the function was postponed by the Ministers of Defence in Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Burundi and Kenya.
He says the East African Standby Brigade is working towards developing a fully operational multi-dimensional and integrated standby force that will be ready for deployment across Africa by 2015, with an initial operational capability by 2010.
