Uganda will face off against Tanzania, Burundi and Zanzibar in group C of the CECAFA football tournament which will run from November 28th to December 13th, 2009 in Kenya.
There are three groups: ‘A, B and C.’ Group A has Kenya, Zambia, Ethiopia and Djibouti while group B has Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Eritrea and Somalia. Uganda is the defending champions of the title.
This year’s CECAFA tournament is sponsored by Orange Telecommunication Company. Because of the name of the sponsor the tournament has been dubbed ‘Orange CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup.’
According to the draws drawn in Nairobi, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi and Zanzibar will be based in Kenya’s sugar producing town of Mumias, while the rest of the teams will play from Nairobi.
The draws were made on Thursday evening. The President of the Federation of Uganda Football Association, Lawrence Mulindwa says Uganda will stage a good game against Tanzania, Burundi and Zanzibar.
