Uganda Entertainment News: Cécile Verny Quartet Jazz Concert thrills fans

The day was Wednesday November 25th, 2009, the venue was Serena Hotel in Kampala and the show was the Jazz Concert Cécile Verny Quartet. Gates opened at 7:00pm till late. Entrance fee was 30,000 shillings for the general fans while and GZK members paid 25,000 shillings.
The concert was fairly attended and many fans freely danced on the tunes of singer Cécile Verny and her band ‘Jazz Cécile Verny Quartet.’
It was not the first time for the Cécile Verny Quartet to perform in Kampala. The singer and her group performed at Ndere Center in 2006.
After returning to Germany, the Cécile Verny Quartet felt so inspired by their stay in Uganda and they composed a song called Kampala.
Cécile Verny was born in the Coted´Ivoire and started touring throughout Europe when she was only seventeen.
While travelling she breathed in different cultures and she transformed this into her songs on Wednesday. Cécile Verny told her fans in Kampala that she has an African-French background. She sang songs in German, English and French.
The show was supported by Goethe Zentrum Kampala/Ugandan German Cultural Society, Goethe – Institute, German Embassy in Kampala, Kampala Serena Hotel, Radio One and The New Vision among others. From Uganda, Cécile Verny will travel to Ethiopia, Djibouti and Eritrea.
