I attended nursery (elementary), primary (middle school), and High school in Cameroon. During my first year in the USA, I signed up for classes at Richland College while working for my dad's company (BAO Medical Billing Company), as a medical biller associate. Being a student and working for my dad was wonderful but not satisfactory enough so I decided to follow my dreams to be a model. I auditioned for Barbizon Modeling company and I've been working locally and nationally as a model for 3 years now. During my first year as a model, I attempted acting. I took many classes in musical theatre, cold readings, music, ballet, fashion and design, vocal training, and jazz alongside my regular curriculum. On May 15th 2005, I started my acting Career at the Garland civic theatre, Theatre 3, MAAI in Las Vegas, MSA in New York, and TSA in California.

The 2007-2008 Miss Africa Scholarship Pageant Awards
Hi Osungu, Can you please tell us briefly about your background?
My name is Osungu Osong and I am Miss Cameroon USA. Cameroon is the one and only
bilingual (French and English) speaking African country and it is very rich economically.
Cameroon is situated on the west part of Africa, just along the coast. It has very beautiful
landscapes, rivers, beaches and several touristic sites. It is a beautiful and very peaceful country
despite the many different cultures.
Miss Africa Unites States is a very big title to carry around.
What was your drive behind entering this prestigious beauty
pageant?
My drive behind entering this prestigious beauty pageant is to represent not only my country but
the whole of Africa with pride and dignity. Africa does not have the respect and acknowledgments
we merit from developed countries. I would love to make a change in this, and let the world know
that we play a great part in the well-being of the world.
Tell us about Cameroon
I have a lot of passion for Cameroon. It is very peaceful and there is so much solidarity
amongst the people. One feels welcomed and greatly loved everywhere you go.
What is the one thing you would never do without?
The one thing I will never do without is my Holy Bible. I grew up in a Christian home, and spent
half of my life in catholic and Baptist boarding schools. So God plays a great part in my life and
the Bible is my best friend.
What are your favourite spots in Africa that will always be
memorable to you?
My favourite spots in Cameroon are the Seme and Mile6 beaches situated in the small English
town of limbe. I also love the beautiful parks filled with the scent of freshly cut grass and variety
of flowers. I am a nature girl and I love anywhere that makes me feel free and at peace.
A lot of people may I agree with me when I say beauty is not just about the visual body. How would you
describe beauty in the eyes of an African woman?
Beauty in my eyes has a lot of meaning and can be described as; confident, loving, intelligent,
graceful, independent, polite, kind and caring. As an African woman, I believe in the inner
beauty. All these qualities in a woman make her very appealing, strong, and beautiful.
How would you sell the whole of Africa as an ambassador to USA and the rest of the world?
Africa is an ambassador to USA and the World, because it is the Motherland to the world and
that is where history begins. I consider Africa as the backbone of humanity since according to
history, man settled in Africa before they started migrating to different parts of the world in small
groups. We are all one despite the different colours and cultures. Africa is our home, our
forefathers originated from here. We might deny this fact, yet it is the truth. White, Black, Asian,
Indian are one.

What are your inspirations in life and what do you aspire to be?
As a little girl I had always wanted to be an actress and model. I took several acting classes in
Richland College in Texas, and was very privileged to get cast in a hand full of shows. I also
worked for Barbizon modeling and acting; this has been my passion for as long as I remember.
Writing is my second passion; I will be taking some English classes at Loyola university of
Chicago to become a better writer. I want to write books that will help our future generation to
know more about God and how to respect and trust each other.
Why do you think you think Miss Africa United States crown
should go to Cameroon and not the other African nations?
I would love to be crowned Miss Africa USA, because I have so much to accomplish for my fellow
Africans. I would love to help the poor, orphans, illiterate and sick children of Africa. These
children merit our attention and help, because they are the future of Africa and the world. They
need someone to keep reminding them how special they are and also the world needs to
recognise Africa as a strong and rich nation. Many people from the developed countries look at
Africa as a bush, rotten, disgraceful, deadly and laughable continent. This really irritates me
because it is not true and I would love to share this with the world. I want to change their views
about Africans still living on trees.
Before you go, have you got any beauty tips you would like to
share with UGPulse readers?
My skin is very important to me because being in the entertainment industry and a young woman
is a great deal, and all focus is on your skin. I have very dry skin so what I do is, I use Glycerin
and Olay quench to keep my skin moist 24hours. I also drink a lot of water which helps to keep my
skin looking fresh and healthy.
